AWA-AFRICA’s model wasn’t designed from a distance, it was built by South Sudanese women and youth who lived the crisis they now respond to.
Protection, education, livelihoods, and peacebuilding don’t have to arrive as four separate programmes from four separate organisations. We deliver them as one continuum, in the same hard-to-reach communities where international actors often cannot sustain a lasting presence.
Protect
Preventing and responding to gender-based violence, and safeguarding children and survivors through case management and safe spaces.
Learn
Getting and keeping children, especially girls, in school through Accelerated Learning Programs and rehabilitated schools.
Earn
Building pathways to income and economic independence for women through VSLAs, vocational training, and seed capital.
Unite
Restoring peace and social cohesion, and building climate resilience, through community-led dialogue and preparedness.
