A Success Story

A girl in Malakal stopped attending school two terms ago, her exercise book still kept under her mat. Pulled from class for an early marriage her mother also once refused, she watches her mother walk her back to the classroom herself, on the first day of term. There, an Accelerated Learning Program run with AWA-AFRICA’s support gives her a way back in. At first she’s embarrassed to be the tallest student in a class of younger children. But she keeps going, and today she has finished the program and is first in her new class, now mentoring the younger students still catching up behind her.
